Rachel Gibson

Rachel J Gibson, BHSc(Hons), PhD: is a Senior Lecturer and Laboratory Head within the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Adelaide. She graduated with a PhD in Medicine at the University of Adelaide in 2004 having focused on the underlying pathogenesis of gut toxicity following chemotherapy. In 2004, she was awarded a Cancer Council South Australia Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship to continue her research into gut toxicity at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. In 2008 Dr Gibson was appointed as a Lecturer within the School of Medical Sciences and was quickly promoted in 2010 to her current position. Dr Gibson is an extremely active and highly productive researcher within the field of gastrointestinal mucositis with a current H Factor of 20 (Google Scholar August 2012). She has an established research group, a competitive funding record, publishes regularly in top supportive care journals and supervises both staff and students.
