Alessandro Sale joined the academic permanent staff of the Institute of Neuroscience of CNR (National Research Council) in Pisa, Italy, in early 2009. He set up a new laboratory focusing on central nervous system development and plasticity, with particular emphasis on the role of environmental stimulation and enviromimetics in brain health and disease. Sale is an ethologist and neurophysiologist with scientific experience in neuroscience and specific technical skills in electrophysiology and behavioural analysis. He holds a B.S. degree in biology and a Ph.D. degree in neurobiology from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy, and did postdoctoral training at the prestigious Centre for the Biology of Memory of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway.
