Sevim Bavbek was born in Ankara/Turkey in 1958. She graduated from Ankara University Medical School. She received the Specialist degree in pulmonology and then received the Specialist degree in allergy from the same university. She was promoted to the position of Associate Professor in 1996 and to the position of Professor in 2003, and since 1991, she has been working at the Department of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Ankara University, School of Medicine. She worked in Virginia University, Asthma and Allergic Diseases Center, USA, as Visitor Associate from 1995 to 1996 with Professor Dr. Thomas Platts-Mills and Professor Dr. Martin D. Chapman on atopic dermatitis and measurement of allergen levels in house dust samples. She worked with Professor Andrew Szczeklik at Jageilonian University, Krakow, Polland, on oral aspirin provocation. Her main interest is drug allergy and asthma.
