Miguel A. Moriñigo
Miguel A. Moriñigo is 49 years old. He studied biology at the University of Malaga. His Ph.D. degree, which he obtained in biology in 1987, is about the presence of the genus Salmonella in polluted natural waters. Nowadays, he works as a Professor in the Department of Microbiology of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Malaga (Spain), and his research interest revolves around aquaculture area, especially studies about pathogenic microorganism-host interactions with special reference to the study of different virulent factor implied in this interaction and development of strategies to prevent the diseases affecting to farmed fish, such as vaccines and especially the selection and use of probiotic microorganisms and their influence on the ecological status of the intestinal microbiota of the fish. He has supervised ten Ph.D. theses and has participated as a Lecturer and as a Coordinator in different Ph.D. courses in different Spanish universities. He has participated as a Researcher and as a Coordinator in more than 20 research projects and contracts related with his research fields and subsidized with public and private founds. He has published more than 100 papers both in national and international journals, and the majority of them have been published in journals registered in Science Citation Index.
