Han Moshage

Curriculum Vitae Han Moshage Han Moshage (1959) studied chemistry at the University of Nijmegen. He graduated in 1983 with specialization Biochemistry. After receiving his PhD degree at the University of Nijmegen in 1987, he was post-doctoral fellow at the Alcohol Research and Treatment Center of the VA Medical Center/Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, USA and at the Dept. of Molecular Biology of the Central Laboratory of the Blood Transfusion Service in Amsterdam. From 1990-1993 he was senior staff-scientist at the Dept. of Hepatology, University Hospital Leuven in Belgium. Since 1993 he has been at the Dept. of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the University of Groningen. In 1999 he was appointed associate professor and in 2005 full professor of Experimental Hepatology and Gastroenterology. His research focuses on mechanisms and manipulation of cell death, including apoptosis, in liver and intestinal diseases. He has served as secretary of the Dutch Society of Hepatology and as member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Dutch Digestive Diseases Foundation. He has been associate editor of the scientific journal Liver International and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Hepatology and International Journal of Inflammation. In addition to his research activities, professor Moshage is also director of the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of the University of Groningen.
