Ivica Grkovic is a graduate of School of Medicine, University of Rijeka, Rijeka, Croatia, where he also obtained his M.S. degree in 1992. He did his Ph.D. degree at the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Melbourne University, Parkville, Australia, in 1997, where he was a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in anatomy and neuroscience. In 2004 he returned to Croatia and took an appointment at the School of Medicine in Split, and since 2005, he has been the Head of the Anatomy Department. Between 2007 and 2009 he served as the Vice Dean for research and postgraduate studies and between 2009 and 2011 as the Vice Dean for teaching and student liaisons. Research interests of Professor Grkovic include neurobiology of the autonomic nervous system, gross anatomy as well as medical education. In these fields he has more than 30 research publications with the H-index of 12. He also heads the Laboratory for Experimental Neurocardiology at the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology. Professor Grkovic is one of four principle authors of An@tomediaTM, a modular multimedia-based project for teaching and learning anatomy (www.anatomedia.com), which is licensed by more than 20 universities worldwide.
