Elena Papaleo is involved in several projects related to structure-function relationship in different protein systems by atomistic simulations alone or integrated to data from biophysical spectroscopies. In particular, her present as well as past research focused on the investigation of functional dynamics in proteins, cold-adapted and extremophilic enzymes, effects induced by phosphorylation on protein structure, enzymes involved in the ubiquitination pathway, intrinsically disordered proteins, and proteins involved in misfolding diseases. She has a Ph.D. degree in industrial biotechnology—Biostructure Curriculum (2006, Milano-Bicocca University, Milan, Italy). She worked as Postdoctoral Researcher (2006–2011) and Contract Professor (2010–2012) in computational biology at Milano-Bicocca University. Dr. Papaleo was a Visiting Researcher at different international research institutes. In 2005, she was Visiting Researcher at the Tromso University, Norway. In 2011, she was a Visiting Research at IBB in Barcelona, Spain, and in 2012 at the CNIO in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Papaleo is presently employed as Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
