Domenico Sansonno

Domenico E. Sansonno, holder of a Ph.D. degree in gastroenterological sciences, is an Associate Professor of internal medicine. His work has been primarily directed to the pathogenesis of chronic liver disease and immunological disturbances of lymphoproliferative disorders. Additionally, his current research projects, funded by public or private organizations, focus on the following: use of sorafenib in the prevention of resected/ablated hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with hepatitis C virus chronic infection: a phase II randomized, controlled trial; single-cell level analysis of the role of HCV in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro, AIRC); molecular analysis of representative B-cell clones in chronic hepatitis C virus infection for the construction of functional antibody fragment library in patients with benign and malignant lymphoproliferation. Contribution to the fields has been published in peer-reviewed journals, reaching a total impact factor of 415.79 and an average of 5.47
