Georgios P. Georghiou

Georgios P. Georghiou obtained a Diploma in thoracic & cardiovascular surgery, the Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel, Diploma in adult trauma life support, the Israeli Military School of Medicine. He is a Member of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgery, Member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and Visiting Senior Lecturer, Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. Dr Georghiou specializes in adult cardiothoracic surgery including coronary artery bypass grafting (arterial revascularization), valve repair and replacement, arrhythmia surgery, aortic surgery, cardiac tumors and congenital heart defects. He also specializes in most types of thoracic procedures. He received his medical degree (cum laude) from the Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Medical University, Szeged, Hungary. He then completed his cardiothoracic surgery Residency in the Rabin Medical Center and Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel, both affiliated with the Sackler School of Medicine, the Tel Aviv University, Israel. During his residency, he served in the Perioperative Pediatric Unit of Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel. Before returning to Cyprus, Dr Georghiou practiced in Assuta and Herzlya, the largest private medical centers in Israel. Dr Georghiou is well-versed in the professional literature and has presented his work throughout Israel and Europe. He has published many papers in international journals. His scientific work includes more than forty announcements in Israel and international congresses. He is a reviewer of several peer-reviewed journals. Currently Dr. Georghiou has an appointment as a Visiting Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery, Sackler School of Medicine, the Tel Aviv University.
