Norihide Yokoi
User Biography : Norihide Yokoi is a Ph.D. degree holder, and he serves as Associate Professor in the Division of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Department of Physiology and Cell Biology, School of Medicine , Kobe University, Kobe, Japan. He received the Ph.D. degree in Medicine from Kyoto University, Japan in 1998. He is an expert on molecular genetics of both type1 and type 2 diabetes. During his research career, he has successfully identified a major susceptibility gene in an animal model of type 1 diabetes, komeda diabetes-prone (KDP) rat. He has also revealed major susceptibility loci in a novel animal model of type 2 diabetes, Spontaneously Diabetic Torii (SDT) rat. He published 47 papers in peer reviewed journals and is author of 70 abstracts in national and international conferences/workshops. He is a Councilor of the Japanese Association for Laboratory Animal Science, and an Advisor of Kansai Laboratory Animal Research Association, and a Member of both the Japan Diabetes Society and the Japan Society of Experimental Diabetes and Obesity.
