Sophie Szopa was born in 1976. She received her Ph.D. degree in 2003 for her work dealing with the development of chemical scheme for tropospheric modelling. Since 2004, Szopa is working on global tropospheric chemistry modeling, first as a Research Fellow, and, since 2008, as a Research Associate of the CEA. Her research is focused on the tropospheric chemistry and its numerical modeling. From 2008 to 2011, she was a Coconvener of an EGU session on tropospheric composition. The general purpose of her work is to understand the evolution of tropospheric composition, mainly ozone and oxidizing capacity, due to changes in precursor emissions, both anthropogenic and biogenic, and climate.
