Mercedes Oliet is an Associate Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the Complutense University of Madrid. She obtained her Master degree in 1990 and her Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1999, both from the Complutense University. Since that time Prof. Oliet has participated as a researcher in numerous projects working in the fields of pulping processes, supercritical extractions, lignin, phenol-formaldehyde resins synthesis, lignocellulosic materials and ionic liquids. She is author of numerous scientific publications in refereed journals, 1 patent, and more than 50 communications in Congresses. She is currently research scientist and responsible for a funded project by Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation focused on the use of ionic liquids in the context of the biorefinery. This research career has produced reports for companies and agencies.
