Niansheng Tang received his B.S. degree in mathematical education from the Chongqing Normal University, China, in 1993, his M.S. degree in probability and mathematical statistics from the Yunnan University, China, in 1996, and his Ph.D. degree from the Southeast University, Bangladesh, in 2000. He was a Research Associate, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Associate Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong; a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Columbia University, New York, NY, USA; a Visiting Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill, NC, USA. He has been appointed as an Associate Professor in 2000 and a Full Professor of statistics in 2003, was elected as a New Century Excellent Talents in University from Ministry of Education of China in 2007, and has got many grants from the National Science Foundation of China and Yunnan Province and Ministry of Education of China among others. He has served in the editorial board of the following Journals: Journal of Statistical and Econometric Methods, Chinese Journal of Application of Statistics and Management, and Chinese Journal of Applied Probability and Statistics. Currently, he serves as a Member of IMS-China and a Reviewer of American Mathematical Reviews. He is interested in statistical methods in biostatistics, model diagnostic measures, structural equation models, mixed-effect models, empirical likelihood, model selection, longitudinal and missing data analysis, generalized nonnormal nonlinear regression model, and their applications. He has coauthored over 80 articles.
