Elia Biganzoli

Elia Biganzoli was born in April 18, 1966, in Tradate, Italy. Biganzoli received his degree (summa cum laude) in biology from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Milan, Milan, Italy. He got his Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) in medical statistics at the University of Milan in 1994–1996. From 1989 to 1994, Biganzoli served as Research Fellow at the Institute of Pharmacology, Faculty of Sciences and Giovanni Lorenzini Foundation, Milan, Italy. He was Consultant Researcher from 1989 to 1994 for drug discovery, assay development, high-throughput screening, and data analysis at the Lepetit Research Center (Marion Merrell Dow, USA), Gerenzano, Italy. In 1995, he became the Senior Biostatistician at the Unit of Medical Statistics and Biometry, Fondazione IRCCS National Cancer Institute, Milan, Italy. From 2000 to 2004, he was the Executive Committee of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics. In 2004–2008, he served as Task Force Leader Evaluation & Benchmarking, BIOPATTERN Network of Excellence FP6 Project “Computational Intelligence for Biopattern Analysis in Support of eHealthcare.” From 2005 to 2009, he was on the Board of the International Biometric Society, Italian Region. In 2009, he served as Cofounder of the IEEE Neural Network Society Special Interest Group Biopattern. Moreover, he was Biostatistical Consultant for the application of bioinformatics in drug discovery and development in industrial biotechnology and pharmaceutical research (Nerviano-MS, Italy; Themis-ICTA, France). In July 9–11, 2008, he was panel discussant with FDA delegates in the 3rd International Symposium on Integrated Biomarkers in Cardiovascular Diseases (Seattle, WA, USA).
