Sandrine Marquet was born in Clermont-ferrand, France, in 1969. She received the Ph.D. degree in biology (specializing in molecular and cellular biology) from the Université Blaise Pascal/Clermont II, Clermont-ferrand, France, in 1997. In 1999, she was an INSERM Research Fellow at the McGill University, Montréal, Canada. From 1997 to 2000, she assumed a postdoctoral position at the Montreal General Hospital. In 1999, she was the recipient of the A and R Piertrangeli Award. Presently, she works as a Senior Research Associate of the INSERM U906 Laboratory at the Université de la Méditerranée. She is interested in genetic susceptibility to severe diseases in parasitic infections, especially cerebral malaria and severe anemia.
