David R. Jones

After completing both his BSc and PhD degrees in biochemistry at the University of Sheffield (a total of 7 years), Dr. Jones moved to Madrid in 1994 to start his first post-doctoral research position at the Institute for Biomedical Research. He spent 2 years there before moving to another institute (National Centre for Biotechnology) in Madrid for a second post-doctoral research position where he spent 4 years further. He then moved to Amsterdam to work at the Netherlands Cancer Institute for a third post-doctoral research position. Four years later, he relocated to the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, which is part of the University of Manchester. He is currently an Associate Scientist working in one of the established research groups in the Institute. Ever since his first post-doctoral research position, he has been interested in signal transduction mechanisms and how downstream signalling pathways impinge on key regulators of cellular functions.
