Jose Miguel Palomo

Jose Miguel Palomo was born in Malaga, Spain, in 1976. He received the organic chemist degree in 1999 and the Ph.D. degree in 2003 (summa cum laude) from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Madrid, Spain. From 1999 to 2003, he worked at the Biocatalysis Department, the Catalysis Institute (CSIC), Madrid, Spain. From 2004 to 2005, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Max Planck Institute in Dortmund, Germany. From 2006 to 2008, he worked as an Associate Research Scientist at the Biocatalysis Department in ICP. Presently, he serves as a Tenure Scientist. He won an EMBO Long-Term Fellowship Award in 2003, was invited to the CERC conference of biocatalysis in Erlangen, Germany, in 2004, and had a membership of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2005 as well as the “Ramon y Cajal” Contract Award in 2008. He is interested in new artificial enzyme design, biotransformations, as well as carbohydrate chemistry with enzymes and glycochemistry.
