William Meier-Ruge

William A. Meier-Ruge was born in Rudolstadt,Thüringen, Germany. He obtained the M.D. degree at the Humboldt University, Berlin. In 1963 he became Associate Professor of pathology at the University of Basel, Switzerland. His affiliations include the German Society of Pathology, Swiss Society of Pathology, and European Society of Histochemistry. His research interests are pathohistology of inborn defects of enteric system (Hirschsprung disease, Hypoganglionosis of the colon, immaturity of enteric nervous system, desmosis of the gut). He has major experience in enzyme histochemistry. Meier-Ruge is the Head of Hirschsprung Laboratory, Institute of Pathology, University Basel, Switzerland.
