Patric Jannasch received his Ph. D. degree in chemical engineering from Lund University, Lund, Scania, Sweden in 1996. Between 1996 and 1998, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Solid State Physics, Risø National Laboratory, in Denmark. In 1998, he joined the Department of Chemistry at Lund University as a Research Fellow to build up a research group on polymers for energy technologies. He was appointed as a Full Professor in Polymer Technology in 2010. Jannasch’s current research interests include molecular design, controlled synthesis, properties and function of various ion and proton conducting polymer electrolytes and membranes for, for example, fuel cells and batteries. These materials include sulfonated and phosphonated polymers (ionomers), self-assembling block and graft copolymers, and polymer blends.
