Jean Yves Thibon received the M.S. degree in mathematics and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Paris VII: Denis Diderot, Paris, France, in 1981 and 1987, respectively. Since 1992, he has been a Full Professor of computer science at the University Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée, France, where he is heading a research team working on the areas of algebraic combinatorics and computer algebra. His research interests include symmetric functions, representation theory, combinatorial Hopf algebras, quantum groups, and invariant theory. He is one of the three managing editors of the journal Séminaire Lotharingien de Combinatoire and a regular organizer of the eponym seminar. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Algebra and of the Standing Committee of the Formal Power Series and Algebraic Combinatorics Conference.
