Philippe Boisse is a Professor of mechanical engineering at INSA Lyon, France. From 1978 to 83, he was a student at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1987 from University Paris 6 and in 1994 he received HDR (authorization to supervise researches). His fields of research include composite forming, textile composites, mechanics of fibrous materials, finite element simulations of forming processes, and plate and shell finite elements. He was the President of ESAFORM (European Association for Material Forming) from 2008 to 2012, Deputy President of AMAC (French association for Composites Materials), Program officer at ANR (French Research Agency), Programme “Materials and Processes”, and Director of the Doctoral School “MEGA” Lyon.
