Rouba Ali-Fehmi received her M.D. degree from Damascus University School of Medicine, Damascus, Syria, in 1989, and did her residency at Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals of Cleveland, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, from 1995 to 1998. She received a fellowship in obstetric-gynecological pathology (1998–2000) and a fellowship in cytopathology (2000-2001), Detroit Medical Center, Hutzel Hospital, Detroit, Mich, USA. Dr. Ali-Fehmi practices surgical pathology, gynecologic oncology pathology, breast pathology, and molecular diagnosis. She has over 10 years of clinical experience in general surgical pathology with a subspecialty in gynecologic oncology pathology, particularly in the area of ovarian, uterine, and cervical malignancies. Her consultation expertise is focused on ovarian and uterine pathology. She serves as the Codirector of the Gynecology Oncology Multidisciplinary Conference at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Moreover, she has been interested in the histopathology and biological characteristics of ovarian and uterine malignancy. She has been actively involved in multiple clinical trials as an expert pathologist. Dr. Ali-Fehmi is also interested in genetic changes and expression profiling of markers for the diagnosis and prognosis of ovarian carcinoma. Dr. Ali-Fehmi is currently an investigator on several funded research projects that involve underlying molecular mechanisms of ovarian tumor progression and metastasis.
