Enrico Heffler completed his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in allergy and clinical immunology at the University of Torino, Torino, Italy. During the postgraduate school (allergy and clinical immunology), Heffler had the opportunity to do an International Fellowship at Lung Health Institute, University of Leicester, Leicester, UK, working on a research project on obesity and asthma (ERS long-term Fellowship 2006). Currently, Heffler is as an Allergist at the Italian Health Care System in different hospitals in Piedmont region. During the last 10 years, his research was mainly focused on the study of inflammatory mechanisms of asthma, rhinitis and rhinosinusitis, human anaphylaxis, and food allergy. From 2005 to May 2013, Heffler authored more than 50 scientific articles published in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and 3 book chapters. Heffler is actively involved in the activity of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and the activity of the Italian Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SIAIC).
