D. Bruce Conn
D. Bruce Conn's research focuses primarily on comparative aspects of reproduction and development of invertebrate animals. His current research involves the reproduction, larval food habits and distribution of caddisflies, and the role of filth-feeding flies and dung beetles in the epidemiology of zoonotic pathogens. He has worked previously with the distribution and ecology of cave-dwelling insects, aquatic insects, and insects associated with bird nests. Conn is a Professor of Biology and Dean of the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences and at Berry College in Georgia, USA. He also holds a current appointment as Associate in Invertebrate Zoology with the Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University. He has served on the faculties of the University of Cincinnati and Wilmington College in Ohio, St. Lawrence University in New York, the University of the South in Tennessee, and has been a Visiting Professor in the doctoral program at the University of Valencia, Spain. He earned the B.S. degree from Lee University in Tennessee, the M.S. degree from Morehead State University in Kentucky, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati. Conn has authored more than 200 scholarly publications, including a textbook, Atlas of Invertebrate Reproduction and Development, which was awarded national honors by the Association of American Publishers. He serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Parasitology, and as a Member of the editorial boards of Acta Parasitologica, Psyche: A Journal of Entomology, and Parasitology Research, and as Business Manager for Invertebrate Biology. Conn has served as the President of both the American Microscopical Society and the Southeastern Society of Parasitologists, and as a Member of the Executive Committee of the Tennessee Academy of Science. He is currently listed on the Fulbright Foundation’s Senior Specialist Roster.
