Luigi Maria Specchio
Luigi Maria Specchio was born in Casale Monferrato, Italy, in 1945. He received the medical degree and the specialization in neurology (summa cum laude) from the University of Bari, Italy, in 1970 and 1973, respectively. From 1971 to 1974, Specchio was an Assistant at Psychiatric Hospital of Bisceglie, Italy. From 1974 to 2000, he worked with the Neurologic Clinic of the University of Bari where he was responsible of the Epilepsy Centre from 1979 to 2000. Since 2000, he is the Chief of Clinic of Nervous System Diseases of the University of Foggia as a Full Professor. Since 2000, he is the Director of Interuniversity Centre for the study of epilepsy and vigilance disorders, University of Foggia and Bari. He is mainly interested in the field of epileptology carrying out studies on epidemiology and clinical and therapeutic aspects. Specchio is or has been responsible as a national and/or local coordinator of research unit involved in RCT studies, pharmacovigilance of antiepileptic drugs, and clinical studies.
