Hiroshi Sekimoto is an Emeritus Professor at and the Founder and first Director of the Center for Research into Innovative Nuclear Energy Systems at Tokyo Institute of Technology. He received a B.S. degree in 1968 and an M.S. degree in 1970 from Kyoto University, Japan, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, CA, US, in 1974. Now he is staying in Berkeley as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering, the University of California. His current interests include conceptual design study of innovative nuclear reactors especially CANDLE reactors and research into innovative nuclear energy systems solving all problems for both general energy (economy and resource) and nuclear energy (safety, radioactive wastes, and weapon security).
