Okan Arikan got his B.S. degree from Bilkent University, Turkey and the M.S., Ph.D. degrees from UC Berkeley in computer science. His graduate work mainly focused on motion synthesis for 3D characters, but he also worked on photorealistic rendering and scalable simulations for virtual environments. He joined University of Texas at Austin, Tex, USA as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2005 and worked on making 3D content easier to create and use. To facilitate this idea further, in 2008, he started Animeeple where he currently works. He is also the author of Pixie, an open source photorealistic RenderMan renderer. He served in program committees for Siggraph, SCA, Pacific Graphics, and I3D.
