W. Sethares

William Sethares received the B.A. degree in mathematics from Brandeis University, Waltham, Mass, USA, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA. He has worked at the Raytheon Company as a Systems Engineer and is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wis, USA. His research interests include adaptation and learning in signal processing, communications, and acoustics. Dr. Sethares is the author of Tuning, Timbre, Spectrum, Scale (Springer, 1998), coauthor of Telecommunication Breakdown (Prentice-Hall, 2004), and couthor of Rhythm and Transforms (Springer, 2007).
