Aiguo Xu received his Ph.D. degree from the China Academy of Engineering Physics, Beijing, China, on June 1998. Then, he worked successively at the Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China, Seoul National University, Seoul, Republic of Korea, Bari University, Bari, Italy, and Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan. Xu is a Professor of physics at the National Key Laboratory of Computational Physics, Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics (IAPCM), Beijing, China. From April 2006, he began his work at the Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics (IAPCM). His research interests include modeling and simulation of complex systems, from the system side especially those related to shock wave and combustion physics, elasticity, plasticity, and fracture, and complex fluids and granular materials, from the method side especially those related to the Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM), Material Point Method (MPM), and Molecular Dynamics (MD).
