Alessandro Ruggiero has been working as an Associate Professor of mechanics of machines at the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Salerno, Salerno, Italy, since 2005. Ruggiero also served as an Assistant Professor at the same university from 1999 to 2005. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in tribology from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, from 1997 to 1999, and the Laurea degree (cum laude) in mechanical engineering (5-year course degree) from the University of Salerno, Italy, in 1997. His current research interests include the following: tribology and biotribology, fluid film lubrication, environmental and industrial noise and vibration control, biomechanics, lubrication of human synovial joints, dental tribology, and water jet in surgery. Ruggiero is the author of more than 70 national and international papers published in international journals.
