Jerome Orosz

Jerome Orosz received B.A. degrees in physics and mathematics (magna cum laude) from the University of Northern Colorado in 1989. He received the M.S. degree in physics from Ohio University in 1991 and the Ph.D. degree in astronomy from Yale University in 1996. His Ph.D. thesis “Optical observations of black hole X-ray novae” was awarded Yale’s Brouwer Prize for a contribution of unusual merit to astronomy. He held Postdoctoral positions at The Pennsylvania State University from 1996 to1999 and at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, from 1999 to 2002. He joined the faculty in the Astronomy Department at San Diego State University in 2002, where he is currently an Associate Professor with tenure. He is a Member of the American Astronomical Society.
