Giancarlo Fortino received his Laurea (B.S. and M.S. degrees) degree, in 1995, and Ph.D. degree, in 2000, both in computer engineering from the University of Calabria, Rende, Italy. He is currently an Associate Professor of computer engineering (since 2006) at the Department of Informatics, Modeling, Electronics, and Systems (DIMES), University of Calabria (UNICAL), Rende Cosenza, Italy. He has been a Visiting Researcher at the International Computer Science Institute, Berkeley, CA, USA, in 1997 and 1999, and a Visiting Professor at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, QLD, Australia, in 2009. His research interests include distributed computing, wireless sensor networks, software agents, cloud computing, and multimedia networks.
