Margarita Sánchez-Beato was born in Toledo, Spain, in 1967. She received her B.S. degree in chemical sciences (biochemistry and molecular biology) and the Ph.D. degree (summa cum laude) from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain, in 1990 and 1997, respectively. From 1992 to 2000, she was at the Pathology and Genetics Departments in the Hospital Virgen de la Salud, Toledo. In 2000, she joined the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) in Madrid, first as a Research Associate of the Lymphoma Group (Molecular Pathology Program) and since 2009 as a senior scientist of the same group. She is mainly interested in lymphoma research, focused on translating discoveries in the molecular pathogenesis of lymphomas into the identification of new diagnostic and therapeutic markers. She has been a Member of Sociedad Española de Bioquímica y Biología Molecular (SEBBM) since 2006, American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) since1999, and a Member of Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (ASEICA) since 1993. She has collaborated in more than ten national and international research projects and has been a principal investigator of four of them. She is a coauthor of more than 45 peer-review papers.
