Johnpierre Paglione, born in London, ON, Canada, received the B.S.Eng. degree in engineering physics from Queen's University, Kingston, Canada, in 1999, before obtaining the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2000 and 2004, respectively. He spent three years in a postdoctoral position at the University of California funded by a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Fellowship, before joining the Faculty of the University of Maryland. In the Department of Physics and the Center for Nanophysics and Advanced Materials, his research focuses on both the synthesis and characterization of new novel superconducting, magnetic and insulating materials, as well as ultra-low temperature transport and thermodynamic studies of unconventional metals and superconductors.
