Erich Minar obtained the M.D. degree from Medical University Vienna, Austria in 1978. From 1978 till 1984, he was a Medical Assistant at the Medical University Clinic Vienna. In 1984, 1984, and 1986-1987, he was a certified specialist in internal medicine, an Assistant Professor at Department of Angiology, and a Secretary of the Austrian Society of Angiology, respectively. In 1988, 1991, and 1992, he was an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, University Clinic, Vienna, attended a Diploma as an Academic Hospital Manager, and was a Scientific Head of the Nurse School at General Hospital Vienna, respectively. In 2001-2002, Dr. Minar was the President of the Austrian Society of Angiology, Member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Vascular Diseases, and a Corresponding Member of the Swiss Society of Angiology. Moreover, Dr. Minar was a Member of the Editorial Board of Central European Vascular Journal, Fellow of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe, Member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Endovascular Therapy, and President of the Austrian Society of Lymphology, in 2002. He was also the Honorary Member of the Swiss and Czech Society of Angiology, the Corresponding member of the South African Society of Vascular Medicine, and Editor of the European Journal of Vascular Diseases, in 2007. Dr. Minar has more than 350 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, 25 book chapters, and 400 invited lectures. His other activities include being a regular Reviewer of many top journals such as Circulation, Radiology, JEVT, Stroke, Thrombosis Haemostasis, and so forth and a Member of the steering committee and of the data safety and monitoring board of many international multicenter trials on venous thromboembolism and endovascular therapy.
