Andrew Wong received his M.D. degree from Loma Linda University (LLU) School of Medicine, Calif, USA in 1983, completed his internal medicine residency at LLU Medical Center in 1986, and completed his Rheumatology Fellowship there in 1988, with an additional research year Rheumatology Fellowship at the UCLA-San Fernando Valley Program. Dr. Wong then joined the faculty at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center as an Assistant Professor of medicine in 1989, and he then became the Chief of rheumatology since 1990. Dr. Wong was promoted to Professor of clinical medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in 2003. He also became the Program Director of the UCLA-Olive View Rheumatology Fellowship Program since 2007. Dr. Wong served as a Grant Reviewer for the NIH/NIAMS, the CDC, the National Arthritis Foundation (AF), and the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) REF and as a Journal Reviewer for medical journals, including Arthritis Care and Research, Arthritis Research and Therapy, Journal of Musculoskeletal Medicine, Clinical Rheumatology, and Journal of Rheumatology. Dr. Wong has received several awards and honors, including the Meyer Arthritis Investigator Award, the MacPherson Society Clinical Science Award, the Marilyn Magaram Award, the National AF "Partnership Award," the County of LA Department of Health Services (DHS) Award, the ACR REF Award, the California DHS "Excellent Service" on the Medi-Cal DUR Board, the OV-UCLA Education and Research Institute (ERI) Award and has been listed as one of "America's Top Physicians" since 2003, "Los Angeles Super Doctors" since 2007, "Southern California Super Doctors" in the Los Angeles Magazine since 2008, and "Top Rheumatologists" in The Leading Physicians of the World in 2011. Dr. Wong has received research grant support from the NIH, AF, OV-UCLA ERI, and LA County DHS. Dr. Wong has authored over 75 publications, including peer-reviewed scientific articles, reviews articles, book chapters, letters to the editor, case reports, and scientific abstracts.
