Academic: •Graduate in Mathematics. University of Zaragoza. Spain (1978). •Doctor in Mathematics. University of La Laguna. Spain (1995). Post held: •1997-2002: Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. •Since 2002: Senior lecturer at the Department of Mathematics, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Research interests: •Geometry of Banach spaces: This field of research activity comprises metric conditions (moduli of convexity, coduli of smoothness etc.) and compactness conditions in geometry of Banach spaces (near convexity, uniform near convexity, near smoothness, uniform near smoothness, near convexity and near smoothness in product spaces etc.). •Theory of measures of noncompactness: Axiomatic definition of measures of noncompactness (known as Banas-Goebel definition of measures of noncompactness), properties of measures of noncompactness and their miscellaneous applications in nonlinear analysis.
