Luca Vattuone was born in Chiavari, Italy in 1966. He received his Physics degree with laude and his Ph.D. degree from Genoa University (Italy) in 1990 and 1994, respectively. He spent one year as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Chemistry Department of the University of Cambridge in the group of Professor Sir David King. He then came back to Genoa to work as a Postdoctoral at the group of Professor Mario Rocca. In 1999, he was firstly appointed as a Physicist at Istituto Idrografico della Marina, Italy, and then as a University Researcher at the Physics Department of Genoa University. In 2010, he became an Associate Professor of condensed matter physics. The research activity of Dr. Vattuone covers experimental investigation of gas-surface interaction by electron spectroscopies and supersonic molecular beams, surface plasmons, and Monte Carlo simulations of surface processes. He was also a Codirector of two workshops at the Ettore Majorana Centre for Scientific Culture (Erice, Italy). Dr. Vattuone published 93 papers and is a coauthor of a book and guest editor of a few special issues.
