Akira Kido was born in 1966 in Nara, Japan. He obtained an M.D. degree from Nara Medical University, Nara, Japan in 1990 and went on to acquire a Japanese Ph.D. degree in orthopedic oncology from the same university in 1998. After being appointed Chief of Surgery in orthopedics and traumatology at the Medical Center for Emergency and Critical Care, Nara Prefectural Hospital, Nara, Japan in 2003, he went on to become Associate Professor in Nara Medical University in 2009. He is or has been associated with the Japanese Cancer Association, the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology, the Japan Society of Clinical Oncology (General Clinical Oncologist, Japanese Board of Cancer Therapy), the Japanese Orthopedic Association (Board- Certified Member of the Japanese Orthopedic Association), Japan College of Rheumatology (JCR-Board-Certified Rheumatologist), the Japanese Society for Palliative Medicine, and the Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine.
