Mingcong Deng received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Northeastern University, China, in 1986 and 1991 and his Ph.D. degree in systems science from the Kumamoto University, Japan, in 1997. From 1997 to 2000, he worked at the Kumamoto University as an Assistant Professor. From 2000 to 2001, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Exeter (UK) and then spent one year at the NTT Communication Science Laboratories. From 2002 to 2010, he worked at the Okayama University, where he was an Assistant Professor and then an Associate Professor. Since October 2010, he has worked at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, where he acts as a Professor. He is a Member of IEEE(SM), SICE, ISCI, IEEJ, IEICE, and JSME. He serves as a Chief Editor of the International Journal of Advanced Mechatronic Systems and has also been serving as an Associate Editor of some international journals, including IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, SICE, IEEJ, IEICE, IJCAT, and so forth. His research interests include power electronics, operator-based nonlinear system modeling, control and fault detection, and strong stability-based control. He has published 104 peer-reviewed international or Japanese journal papers and 155 international conference papers.
