Alexander N. Obraztsov

Alexander N. Obraztsov was born in Moscow, USSR, in 1958. He received the Diploma Specialist degree in Physics (equivalent to M.S. degree) and the Candidate of Science in Physics degree (equivalent to Ph.D. degree) from the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Moscow, USSR, in 1981 and 1986, respectively. In 2001, he got the degree of Doctor of Science in Physics from the same University. Since 1981, Obraztsov is with the Department of Physics of MSU. In 1990–1995, he was a Staff Researcher at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of MSU. From 2000 to 2002, Obraztsov was a Professor at the Department of Electronics and Photonics of the Kochi University of Technology (Japan). Presently, he is a Professor at the Department of Physics of MSU (Russia). He is also a part-time Professor at the Department of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Eastern Finland (Finland). His main current interests are researches and developments in the fields related to carbon and, especially, to nanocarbon materials. These include the elaboration of chemical vapor deposition methods for the production of carbon materials and the characterization of structural and physical properties of different carbons and the development of fundamental principles of their application in electronics and optics.
