Der-Chyuan Lou was born in Chiayi, Taiwan, on March 18th, 1961. He received the B.S. degree from Chung Cheng Institute of Technology (CCIT), National Defense University, Taiwan, in 1987, and the M.S. degree from National Sun Yat-Sen University, Taiwan, in 1991, both in electrical engineering. He received the Ph.D. degree in 1997 from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Chung Cheng University, Taiwan. Furthermore, he worked an Assistant, Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering at CCIT, from 1987 to 2009. Lou had served as Director of Computer Center of CCIT from 2004 to 2006. Currently, he serves as a Professor with the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, Chang Gung University. His research interests include multimedia security, steganography, cryptography, computer arithmetic, and distributed system. Professor Lou is currently an Area Editor for Security Technology of Elsevier Science’s Journal of Systems and Software. He is an Honorary Member of the Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society. In addition, Lou is a Member of the IEICE Society and the Chinese Cryptology and Information Security Association. He is also a recipient of Research Award that was granted by the National Science Council of Taiwan, in 1992 and 1993, respectively. Lou is the owner of the Eleventh AceR Dragon Ph.D. Dissertation Award. He has been selected and included in the fifteenth and eighteenth editions of Who's Who in the World which has been published in 1998 and 2001, respectively.
