Pablo González-Vera was born in La Gomera, Canary Islands, Spain, in 1955. He received a degree in mathematics and the Ph.D. degree (Summa Cum Laude) from La Laguna University, Spain, in 1979 and 1985, respectively. In 1986, he got a permanent position at the Department of Mathematical Analysis in La Laguna University, where presently he serves as a Professor. He is mainly interested in orthogonal rational functions, quadrature formulas, moment problems, and rational approximation. He was serving as the Dean of the Mathematics Faculty and as the Head of the Department of Mathematical Analysis. Currently, he serves as the Vice Rector in La Laguna University and as a Member of the Canary Academy of Sciences. He coauthored a book titled Orthogonal Rational Functions in 1999.
