Fabio L. Forti
Fabio L. Forti was born in Sao Paulo State, Brazil, in 1969. He received the B.S. degree in chemistry and the M.S. degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1992 and 1995, respectively. His Ph.D. degree in biochemistry was also obtained at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2001, with a sandwich period at the Salk Institute, La Jolla, Calif, USA, in 1999. He did three postdoctoral trainings: 1) at the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Sao Paulo, from 2002 to 2006, 2) at the Burnham Institute, La Jolla, Calif, USA, in 2007, and 3) at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of California San Diego, San Diego, Calif, USA, in 2008. In 2009 he was hired as Assistant Professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at the Department of Biochemistry, Institute of Chemistry, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Since then, he is Head of Biomolecular Systems Signaling Laboratory and his past and present expertise/interests are in hormonal action on adrenal glands, signal transduction by ACTH, AVP and/or FGF2, regulation of cell cycle and proliferation, and signal transduction by kinases and phosphatases in DNA-damage responses and cancer biology. He is a Member of Brazilian Societies of Cell Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Mutagenesis and Carcinogenesis. He is also a Member of the American Society of Cell Biology and Endocrine Society. Dr. Forti has been part of editorial board of Genetic and Molecular Biology, Medical Engineering and Physics, and The Open Biomedical Engineering Journal.
