Hermann Brenner

Hermann Brenner was born in 1958 in Sindelfingen, Germany. During 1978–1985, he worked at the Medical School, University of Tübingen and Univerity of Marburg. In 1985, he obtained the M.D. degree from the University of Tübingen. From 1985 to 1987, he was a Resident of internal medicine and family medicine. Between 1987–1988, he served at the School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. Brenner received his M.P.H. degree in epidemiology from the UNC School of Public Health in 1988. In 1989–1990, he worked as an Epidemiologist at Cancer Registry of Saarland, and during 1990–1993, he was the Head of the Unit of Epidemiology, University of Ulm. He also served as an Associate Professor of public health and epidemiology at the University of Munich in 1993–1994. Between 1995–2000, he was a Professor of epidemiology and Chair of the Department of Epidemiology, University of Ulm, and during 2000–2005, he served as a Professor of epidemiology as well as the Chair of the Department of Epidemiology, German Centre for Research on Ageing, Heidelberg. In 2006, he was also a Professor of epidemiology and Chair of the Division of Clinical Epidemiology and Aging Research, German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg. He received multiple research awards, including Herman A. Tyroler Distinguished Alumni Award, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, in 2001.
