Fantao Kong serves as an Associate Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He received his B.Eng. and M.Eng. degrees in chemical engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, in 1994 and 2000, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2003. From 2009 to 2010, he worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. His research interests include precision hot forming of Ti alloy and TiAl intermetallics, control of solidification microstructure and casting, metal matrix composite, and powder metallurgy. He has published more than 70 technical papers, including over 60 journal publications.
