Tahany El-Wardany Bio Dr. Tahany El-Wardany is a Principal Scientist and Technical contributor with the United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) where she has been involved in developing modeling and simulation of different machining and manufacturing processes, Tribology, peening processes and sand erosion applications in addition to modeling of additive manufacturing processes. She has extensive experience in developing FE models to investigate effect of both surface integrity and bulk residual stresses on critical parts performance and Fatigue resistance. Tahany hold a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from University of Birmingham, Birmingham, UK, a Master degree in manufacturing engineering and a bachelor’s degree in production engineering from University of Alexandria, Alexandria, Egypt. Before joining UTRC, Tahany was an Associate Professor at the Production Engineering Department, University of Alexandria, Egypt and was on Sabbatical leave as Adjunct Professor / Research Manager of McMaster Machining System Lab, Mechanical Engineering Department, McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Dr. El-Wardany has nearly 100 papers and 14 patents and patents applications in manufacturing sciences and the science of friction, lubrication, and wear.
