Cristina Angeloni has been a Researcher at the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Bologna since 2005. She received M.S. degrees in computer science and food science and technology (summa cum laude) in 1992 and 2000, respectively, and a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and physiopathology of aging in 2005. Angeloni has published more than 30 articles in journals and more than 50 abstracts in proceedings of refereed international conferences. Her main research interest is the identification of natural compounds such as flavonoids and isothiocyanates in the prevention/counteraction of cardiac cell injury following oxidative stress. In particular, she has investigated the cardioprotective mechanisms of these compounds studying the radical scavenging activity, the induction of phase II enzymes, the inhibition of apoptosis, and the modulation of signal transduction pathways.
