David Pyatt serves as the Principal and the Cofounder of Summit Toxicology, L.L.P., a national toxicology and risk assessment consulting firm, and he works currently as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the School of Public Health and as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of toxicology at the School of Pharmacy, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He serves also as a graduate-level instructor at the Geology and Environmental Sciences Department, University of Colorado, Denver campus. He received the B.S. degree in biological sciences from North Carolina State University and the Ph.D. degree in toxicology from the University of Colorado. He has been actively involved in toxicology research and consulting for the past 20 years, and his work has resulted in approximately 90 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts in the fields of environmental and occupational toxicology, experimental hematology, carcinogenesis, and immunology. Summit Toxicology, L.L.P. participates in a variety of science projects for the private sector, regulatory agencies, and other groups. A primary focus of his laboratory research is to understand chemically induced blood disorders, including those related to benzene and lead. Over the past 15 years, he has been serving as an instructor and/or as a Course Director for graduate and medical courses in environmental toxicology and risk assessment, environmental epidemiology, occupational and industrial health, toxicology, and immunology.
