Cristina Sierra is currently a Senior Specialist (Medical Doctor) in the Department of Internal Medicine in the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, Spain. She also works at the Hypertension & Vascular Risk Unit at the same hospital. She has obtained her Physician Doctor degree in 2002 from University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, and she has been a Clinical Hypertension Specialist of the European Society of Hypertension since 2002. She has obtained an M.S. degree in geriatrics medicine in the period from 2000 to 2002 from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain. She has served as an Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona since 2006. Dr. Sierra has published some originals and reviews papers in the area of hypertensive cerebral damage and hypertension in the elderly. Her main research interest is in early cerebrovascular damage related to hypertension. She has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at Cardiovascular Prevention Center of the Jewish General Hospital, Lady Davis Institute, Montreal, Canada, from May 2010 to June 2011.
